July Sustainable Atlanta Roundtable to cover rainwater harvesting

From Southface Energy Institute

Rainwater harvesting systems help solve potable water, non-potable water, stormwater and energy challenges throughout the world. However, the southeastern United States lags behind other areas in implementing both passive and active catchment systems.

This Sustainable Atlanta Roundtable will examine the status of rainwater harvesting in the Atlanta region and how it can be a viable part of the region’s integrated water conservation and resource management strategies. Our speakers will provide expertise on some of the legal and institutional challenges to implementing rainwater harvesting projects. The panel will also lead discussion on how to encourage further adoption of rainwater harvesting through local development plans and policies.

Moderator: Ernest Earn of Cobb County Water Systems. Speakers: Bob Drew of EcoVie Environmental, and Jessica Lee Reece of Smith Gambrell & Russell.

Time and Place: July 18, 7:30 a.m.-9 a.m. (doors open at 7 a.m. for networking) at All Saints Episcopal Church (Ellis Hall), 634 West Peachtree Street, Atlanta, 30308.

Advance tickets: Pre-register here.

All Saints is across the street from MARTA’s North Avenue station. Win door prizes for walking or taking public transportation to the event!
