Soenso Solar touts benefits of array on Chastain Park area home

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (February 16, 2011) – A total of forty Schuco Solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, two SMA inverters and a Sunny WebBox solar data logger have been installed on the home of the Rolls family in the Chastain Park area of Atlanta, Georgia. This solar PV array, installed by Soenso Solar Energy of Marietta, Georgia, is an 8.4 kW system that produces about 875 kilowatt hours (kWh) a month on average of clean electricity.

In Georgia, coal accounts for approximately sixty-four percent of the fuel mix used by utilities to generate electricity.* By partially powering the Rolls home with approximately 10,500 kWh a year of clean electricity from the Sun, this new photovoltaic system will provide these benefits:

• Opportunity to sell solar-generated electricity to the power company for $0.17 per kWh

• Assure return on investment of 5% a year; will get even better as utility company implements rate increases

• Add value to the home; more marketable in resale

• Prevent an estimated 16,600 pounds of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere each year*

• Is comparable to removing greenhouse gas emissions of 1.4 passenger vehicles each year*

• Is the equivalent to roughly 1.6 acres of pine forest storing carbon each year*

Water for Energy – Nearly two out of every three gallons of fresh water withdrawals in the southeast United States are sent to electric power plants to meet cooling demands. About a gallon of water is consumed for each kWh of electricity produced.** The Rolls home’s 8.4 kW solar PV system will save about 10,500 gallons of fresh water each year from being consumed to produce electricity by electric power plants.

About Soenso Solar Energy – Located in Marietta, Georgia, near Atlanta, Soenso Solar Energy is a supplier and installer of commercial and residential renewable energy products – solar thermal hot water systems, solar photovoltaic (PV) for generating electricity and small wind turbines for generating electricity. These renewable energy technologies qualify for federal, state and electric utility-sponsored incentives. www.soenso.com, info@soenso.com, phone: (770) 973-6298.
